We all have the right to seek healing and support when life gets tough. Noticing that we are slipping and finally in need of help can take many years. Equally, distress may be triggered overnight by a major life event, a traumatic experience or a recent psychiatric diagnosis. Signs of adverse mental health may be subtle or obvious. If you are here, you are possibly exploring the idea of counselling for yourself or a loved one.
My work in this field has been life changing on a personal and vocational level. As an individual with lived experience of neurodivergence from an ethnically diverse background, I understand issues of discrimination and feel comfortable working with shame, stigma and marginalisation. As a therapist I am warm, empathetic and curious.
I encourage individuals to tune into the biological, social and emotional processes influencing their current mental state. My training as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker has equipped me to deliver a range of interventions to assist individuals to achieve goals, change behaviour patterns and lead rich, full and meaningful lives.
These include psycho-education, CBT, ACT, Schema, DBT, Emotion Coaching, Mindfulness and EMDR therapy. When working with adolescents, I am relatable, creative and incorporate a range of evidence based techniques appropriate for age and stage of development.
I have particularly enjoyed my work in supporting newly diagnosed young people with ASD and ADHD to integrate, accept, make meaning and embrace their neurodivergence, develop agency and autonomy and change behaviour patterns in light of their unique values.
I ensure I maintain a high commitment to continuing professional development to ensure my clients receive the most effective, up to date psychological interventions.
